Zak Enterprises was established in 1993 to provide
computer recycle services to Silicon Valley corporations.
Since our inception in 1993 our excellent reputation has spread and we
now support customers throughout Northern and Southern California as well as nationwide.
What's the downside of a computer on every desk ?
Back in the early 90’s, prior to the widespread acceptance
of the Internet, computers were used primarily as a productivity tool in the
office for creating memos. Only a small percentage of people in a company had a
computer on their desk. At that time a personal computer was a big investment
costing thousands of dollars and as a result had a long lifecycle, often over 5
years. Over the past decade we have experienced a significant shift in how
companies view personal computers, they are now a necessary tool for every
employee, cost in the hundreds of dollars, and have an average lifecycle of 18
months. This shift from valuable long term asset to disposable commodity has
potential repercussions that if not dealt with properly will have significant
negative long term effects on our environment and what we as a community leave
behind for our children and grandchildren.
Our Commitment to you and to the Environment
Zak Enterprises is committed to doing the right thing for
our customers and our environment. In 2003 we were one of the original 15
signers of the Electronic Recyclers Pledge of True Stewardship

this pledge, recyclers must commit to complying to three fundamental truths in
their recycling efforts :

Prevent
hazardous e-waste from going to municipal incinerators or landfills

Prevent
export of hazardous waste to developing countries

Use
free market rather than prison labor to dismantle and recycle e-waste
While we have always adhered to these basic principles, we
are pleased with global organizations such as the Basel Action Network who take
the initiative to propose such guidelines in an effort to protect our planet as
well as basic human rights.
